Bypassing sdk and connect GPIO directly to RVR

Is it possible to bypass the sdk and just connect the GPIO directly to sensors and motors?
I understand maybe Ill need motor controllers… But i’ve been having issues with the libraries and software from sphero, so i’d like to write my own code and run it directly from my raspberry Pi.

I don’t think so. There’s a Nordic processor that controls the RVR.

All the SDK does is build messages that are sent to the Nordic processor. These messages are well documented on this API Page.

I have written my own C# code that connects up to RVR and sends these messages. Works great.
