This worked remarkably well.
I used the Kittenbot IOBit + a micro:bit to connect two Sharp 5V IR sensors.
I hooked up the 5V power and ground from RVR to the 5V bus on the Kittenbot AND also the USB from the micro:bit directly to RVR. The mounting holes on the Kittenbot board line up nicely with holes on the RVR plate. I used M3 x 25mm bolts with plastic washers.
The IR sensors are connected to P1 and P2, since the breakout board uses P0 to drive the speaker.
The Sharp sensors are pretty good obstacle avoidance and collision sensors.
So far so good with MakeCode and Python.
