Powering a Raspberry Pi 4 with the RVR

Hi all,

I have added a Raspberry Pi 4 B to the RVR but am having issues powering it. Specifically, I have connected the Pi to the RVR using a 7" USB cable and am receiving a low voltage warning. Should I be using the UART to power the Pi instead?

I am a novice with the Raspberry Pi so any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am using the same blue cable that Sphero provided to charge the batteries by USB. No problems powering the Pi 4B. Just can’t seem to get it to connect as all I get are the TimeoutError messages.

FWIW this is the cable I have that was powering the Pi off the RVR’s USB port last I checked.

Also note I’m using the Pi 4 with 2 GB of memory – I imagine the ones with more memory might use more power. Same if you’ve added any HATs or USB peripherals to the Pi – those will likely draw more power than the RVR can provide.
